Inter University Pole Fitness Competition 2012
Posted: Mar 19 2012
After a long drive through
the rain and the many speed cameras on the M4 we finally made it to Bristol for
the Inter University Pole Fitness Competition.
Arriving at 10:30 we thought we’d got there in plenty of time only to
spend 30 mins driving around the narrow lanes of Clifton looking for a parking
space! Not ideal but a good workout
lugging all the stuff from the car to the venue.
Once we were all set up, we joined fellow stall buddies Laura from Spinny T bags, Alex from Pole Essentials and Gemma from Dry Hands UK to meet all the competitors and to watch the amazing performances.
It was only the second
year of the event, but it has grown massively this year with 12 Universities
taking part.
Judges on the day were Elena Gibson, Emily Smith, Karen Chaundy, Sam Remmer, Sarah Scott and Stacey Snedden. Varie Anderson was the Adjudicator and Katie Prentice was the events compare keeping everything running smoothly.
Girls and boys were competing and we were treated to amazing performances from Judges Sarah Scott and Elena Gibson.
It was a bit confusing at
first with up to 3 competitors performing at once, but is helped the
competition run more quickly with so many competitors.
The standard was extremely
high with the intermediate and advanced competitors performing some amazing
trick and combinations. If only there
was pole dancing on offer when I was at university!
At the end of the event, the
rain continued and it was another long drive home in wet conditions with poor visibility
with a traffic diversion off the M4 just for good measure.
Thanks again to Bristol
University Pole Society for allowing us to be involved with the event and we
look forward to the next event with this years overall winners at Essex
